Color Me Optimistic! - Design brands announce their 2021 Colors of the Year

Each year as the holiday decorations come down I go into cleaning mode. Which almost always leads to "paint a room" mode much to the chagrin of my family. I always find interesting the major paint companies' announcements of their newest "color of the year" choices. Leave me a comment below about what you think! Would you use any of these colors in your home?

Ultimate Gray and Illuminating by Pantone

The global authority on color put a surprising twist on color of the year announcement... as if 2020 wasn't already full of plot-twists! Pantone chose two contrasting shades as its top picks for 2021. Ultimate Gray is a lovely neutral and Illuminating is a bright sunshine yellow.

"The selection of two independent colors highlight how different elements come together to express a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting, conveying the idea that it's not about one color or one person, it's about more than one," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.

Aqua Fiesta by Glidden

This year, Glidden announced it's first-ever color of the year with Aqua Fiesta - a bright aquamarine. Bold on a wall or whimsical in smaller doses it certainly makes a splash!

Aegean Teal By Benjamin Moore

A little softness and subtlety may be what we all need as we enter the new year and Benjamin Moore's soothing Aegean Teal may just be the answer. Hannah Yeo, color marketing and development manager at Benjamin Moore, calls it "an intriguing blue-green that creates natural harmony and invites us to take a moment to reflect and reset."

Passionate by HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams

HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams predicts saturated & bold colors for 2021. Passionate is a deep red that is bold but elegant. Is it modern? Is it traditional?

Urbane Bronze by Sherwin-Williams

If there was ever a bold neutral, Urbane Bronze by Sherwin-Williams is it. The greyish brown hue is grounding, and sophisticated.
